Many weatherstrips that were not available when this kit was first developed have since been reproduced. Several of these are listed in Related Items on this page. Other rubber seals, grommets, bumpers, and weatherstrips that you may need to replace are listed in the remainder of the 70-78 Z weatherstrip & rubber categories. Core Support Weatherstrips, Door Upper Molding Seals, Headlight and Tail Light Gaskets, Front 1/4 Window Weatherstrips (both 70-73 and 74-78 Coupe), and various Firewall Grommets, are only a few of the newer options now available.

Installation Note:
This kit includes replacement seals only; installation accessories not included. You will need 2 packs of 40-3969 Interior Rivets (for the front and under door seals) and 2 tubes of 80-8501 Weatherstrip Adhesive (used on several seals such as inner & outer rear deck). One bottle of 80-8502 Weatherstrip Lubricant is recommended for seals that don't use either rivets or adhesive to install (such as window channel and door weatherstrips). See Related Items.

Description:
If there is one fact that anyone trying to restore an older car can tell you, it is that rubber goes bad. Regardless of whether it is the bushings in the suspension, trim on the bumper, or the weatherstrips that keep water and fumes out, if it is not taken care of it will dry out and rot. If you notice water on your shoulder while driving on a rainy day, extra wind noise on the highway, or a strong exhaust smell inside the cab (especially with the windows rolled down), it is time to take a look at the various seals around your car. On cars as old as the Z, it is a good idea to simply replace all of the body weatherstrips when you start seeing the signs of bad seals. In most cases, the seals that you know are bad are a good indication of the condition of the rest. This exclusive kit includes all of the seals that would allow water and wind noise inside your car and most of the seals that can allow exhaust fumes inside as well. Be sure to check the Related Items section at the bottom of this page for other items you may need (such as weatherstrip rivets and adhesive), as well as the other 70-78 Z weatherstrip & rubber categories.
