Part #:17-8041
Price: $9.32
Includes:
  • (1) Oil Filter Relief Valve

Description:
The Oil Filter Relief Valve, which is pressed into the block where the oil filter mounts, is one of two relief valves that help regulate oil pressure (the other is located in the oil pump: 17-8020). The valve opens to prevent pressure build-up, both in the oil filter and in the block. If stuck closed, this valve can cause high oil pressure (and out of the seals if it gets high enough!). In addition, the Oil Filter Relief Valve can cause low oil pressure if it is stuck open or if the ball bearing is damaged. If you start seeing abnormally high oil pressure, or notice low pressure and excess valvetrain noise on start-up, checking these two valves for proper operation first can save time and money. Genuine, original equipment (OEM) replacement.
