This genuine, original equipment (OEM) "inner" shift boot secures to the floor of the car, beneath the center console. It is the rubber boot that helps keep road noise out while preventing dirt and grime, heat, and gasses from entering the cabin.
Note:
If you are planning to replace this boot, it is a good idea to inspect the shifter bushings and transmission shift boot for wear and damage, since the inner shift boot must be removed in order to access these items.
