Description:
As an interference motor, it is critical that the timing belt and components are replaced as a part of standard maintenance. Component failure while the engine is running is capable of causing severe to catastrophic damage to your engine. Replacing the timing belt and components at their specified intervals (60k for soft parts; 120k for hard parts) is the best way to prevent this from happening. This is the genuine, original equipment (OEM) tensioner assembly for the Timing Belt that is located toward the passenger (right) side. It should be replaced during the shorter interval timing belt change (60K, or every belt). Includes pulley.
Installation Note:
The small bolt next to the pulley is a retaining bolt for the tensioner. It holds the tensioner piston in its compressed position to allow the belt to be installed. Based on how the tensioner unit was designed, it is not possible to push the piston back far enough to get the bolt back in or even install the belt. Remove this bolt only after the tensioner assembly AND the belt have both been installed.
