Description:
This genuine, original equipment (OEM) small, white plastic breather fits into the top of the transmission. It allows the transmission to vent air to prevent a pressure/vacuum buildup while keeping water and debris out. Pressure buildup can cause oil to leak from the trans seals, while vacuum can cause water and debris to be pulled past the seals (mainly the rear seal). Additionally, a buildup of either pressure or vacuum can cause damage to the internal components of the transmission as well as the seals.
Application Note:
Transmission breathers are not used on all manual transmissions. Since trans swaps are fairly common, we recommend inspecting your transmission prior to ordering. If your transmission has a breather, it can be found on the top of the rear extension housing of the trans.
