Description:
As any early Z-Car owner can likely confirm, broken studs and bolts are not fun to remove from aluminum parts. One of the best ways to prevent broken bolts is to replace hardware before it breaks during removal. This genuine, original equipment (OEM) bolt holds the Valve Timing Control Solenoids to the Front Camshaft Bracket (the solenoids are located on top of the Front Camshaft Bracket, where the bracket is visible between Rear Timing Cover and the Rocker Cover). Sold individually; 3 required per solenoid (6 per car).
Installation Notes:
VTC bolts have a very low torque spec. We recommend installing the bolts by hand first (but only until resistance is felt), then follow the factory torque spec using an inch-pound specific torque wrench. Torque Spec: 87 - 112 in-lb.
Note:
The torque spec and part number for the small bolt that holds the solenoid to the valve body are not specified by Nissan. We have checked a few different bolts, and have found that our part number 14-1183 will function as a replacement part, although it is a different style bolt. We recommend using the same torque spec specified on that bolt, which happens to be the same range as this bolt (87 - 112 in-lb). Keep in mind that the solenoid itself is also not available as a separate item, so the only reason it should be removed from the valve assembly would be for inspection when the associated engine code is given (which should only be done by a qualified mechanic).
