This genuine, original equipment (OEM) hose connects the Anti-Backfire Valve to the Balance Tube. When manifold vacuum sharply rises (such as rapid deceleration), it carries pressurized fresh air from the smog pump to the balance tube (and by extension the intake manifolds) to lean out the fuel mixture and reduce both hydrocarbon emissions and backfiring out the exhaust.
