Description:
Restore your Z's performance! Tune ups are an important part of the periodic maintenance of your Z. The metal parts of the spark plugs wear down over time from heat caused by repeated use. This can lead to poor fuel economy, engine performance, and eventually cause misfires in extreme cases. Dirty engine filters and a blockage in either PCV valve will also decrease performance and economy. Unlike earlier model Z-Cars, the 300ZX-Z32 doesn't have a specified tune up interval, as replacement intervals don't line up as neatly as early cars. Caps and rotors aren't used, the fuel filter is essentially listed as 24,000 miles or less as needed, and spark plug technology has advanced to the point that they don't need to be replaced every 30,000 miles (Nissan recommends replacing the spark plugs at 60,000 miles). If the car has sat for a long period of time or if you recently purchased the car, a Major Tune Up should be performed along with other maintenance (including a complete fluid change). Any kind of ignition service or upgrade, such as replacing the ignition coils, also warrants a tune up. Those who drive their cars more aggressively or actively race should perform tune ups more often, although the exact interval depends on how the car is being used. This kit comes with a new set of spark plugs to refresh the functionality of your ignition system other maintenance items that should be changed at the same time.
Spark Plug Note:
The "Hot" & "Standard" ratings come direct from the factory Nissan service manual (Nissan has discontinued the "cold" PFR7B-11). NGK shows only the hotter PFR5B-11 in their application listing for a 90-96 300ZX Non Turbo application. If you are uncertain which plug to choose, you can learn more about heat range from the NGK Web Site. You can also give us a call for more information, or consult your mechanic.
