Factory Oil Filter Relief Valve, 84-96 300ZX

You can choose a Z-Car from your garage, or from the selections above, to filter the store or check part fitment.
Part #:17-8042
Price: $9.87
Includes:
  • (1) Oil Filter Relief Valve

Description:
The oil filter relief valve is pressed into the block where the oil filter mounts. The valve opens to prevent pressure build-up, both in the oil filter and in the block. If stuck closed, this valve can cause high oil pressure (and out of the seals if it gets high enough!). In addition, the Oil Filter Relief Valve can cause low oil pressure if it is stuck open or if the ball bearing is damaged. If you start seeing abnormally high oil pressure, or notice low pressure and excess valvetrain noise on start-up, checking this valve for proper operation first can save time and money. Genuine, original equipment (OEM) replacement.

Quantity Required:
  • (1) 84-89
  • (2) 90-96*

*Location Note:
This valve is fitted directly into the engine block where the oil filter mounts on all 84-89 models, as well as 90-96 non-turbo models. Factory Z32 Twin Turbo models have plugs installed in the block instead, and the valves are fitted into the Oil Filter Bracket (often referred to as the "Filter Tree"), again where the filter mounts.
