Description:
Nissan discontinued this small "Z" plate for the center console long ago, which fits between the shift boot and the ash tray on the center console of later 240Z models. This excellent reproduction features the classic "Z" logo in the center, chrome trimming, and similar textured graining in the same areas as the factory installed version. The plate covers the opening in the console where some models sold outside of the U.S. had a switch for either fog or parking lights. Like the original replacements, install pins** have been molded in.
Note:
Our reproduction center consoles already have this plate installed; you do not need to order this separately when purchasing the console (see 40-2403-1 in Related Items).
*Application Note:
Models produced in late 1970 and early 1971 came with one of 2 types of center consoles. Nissan was not consistent during this period of Z-Car production, and cars produced even in the same week often times came in different configurations. This plate fits 240Z center consoles where the Ash Tray is positioned behind the shift boot. It is not used on early model consoles.
**Installation Note:
These plates have 2 posts on the back for installation; however, they do not use any kind of mounting clips. Instead, the posts need to be "melted down" using a suitable tool (such as a soldering iron) until the posts are nearly flush. The result is a permanent installation that matches the factory original installation method. As an alternative (and simpler) option, adhesive can be used instead; the posts would still be used to align the plate, then need to be trimmed off after the adhesive sets.
