Description:
The throttle position switch (TPS) is the switch on the side of the throttle body that tells the fuel computer whether the throttle body is open or closed (idle). The original TPS units commonly build up corrosion both on the connector and between the contacts under the cover. The contacts can also wear out in some very high mileage cases. These issues can result in situations where either too much (flooding) or too little (starvation) fuel is sent to the engine, resulting in surging, roughness, stalling, or even fuel cut-off ("coast" mode, which should only be active when decelerating at higher RPMs). This is the genuine, original equipment (OEM) throttle position switch, which is located on the side of the throttle body.
