Description:
One major issue that comes with replacing timing components on an L-series engine is broken bolts. Over time, these bolts weaken, stretch, and eventually become frozen in the block. In many cases you can remove them successfully; however, re-using those old bolts is simply asking for trouble down the road. This kit replaces all of the timing cover mounting bolts and lock washers with brand new hardware. Also includes a full set of water pump bolts/lock washers and the small Timing Indicator bolt/lock washer. Alignment pins, gaskets and bolts for mounting other components not included. Image Note:
While most of the hardware in this kit is genuine, original equipment (OEM) sourced directly from Nissan, some of the original components have been discontinued by them. We found the best quality replacements for these pieces; however, the appearance of these are sometimes different from the originals. The image on this page shows all OEM bolts when they were still available (note the different plating types all arrived around the same time from Nissan). Click on the links in the list above for the most current image of each bolt included in this kit.

Plating Note:
As with many of the OEM hardware, fittings, caps, and other plated components, Nissan no longer uses the original plating that gave the original bolts their "yellow zinc" appearance. Nissan has used several different types of plating on metal components over the years, and it is not uncommon to receive pieces with different appearances (especially when ordering in quantity). The current plating used on most genuine Nissan components gives them a more silver appearance; however, it is not uncommon for us to receive a package with mixed platings from them. The exact combination you receive will vary based on our inventory, but will generally include the most current plating type. Image shows an example of hardware that was sourced from Nissan at the same time, but included a variety of different plating types.

Water Pump Note:
This kit includes a set of water pump bolts and lock washers. You do not need to purchase a separate set of water pump bolts with this kit.

*Note:
The top/bottom bolt mentioned in the kit components is used in 2 locations. First, 2 of them fit through the cylinder head and thread into the top of the timing cover (the two top-down bolts). The other 2 fit into the lower corners of the timing cover; one exposed toward the driver's side and the other behind the oil pump. The bolts that thread into the bottom of the timing cover to hold the oil pan in place are not included in this kit.
