Description:
This genuine, original equipment (OEM) emblem was originally installed on the hood of all 70-78 Z-Cars sold outside of Japan. It features a Datsun logo with black textured backing and chrome trimming. The logo itself includes bright silver "half moons" above and below the chrome "DATSUN" lettering. As factory Nissan pieces, these have all the correct features and details needed to properly finish your Z project or restoration. Installation clips sold separately; see Installation Note below.
Installation Note:
Although most factory emblems do come with mounting clips, Nissan does not include them with the hood emblem. See Related Items for new clips (if needed).
Note:
Unlike later models, the emblem on 70-78 models fits over an angled part of the hood. This means that most aftermarket or alternate emblems will not fit correctly in the stock position, making the factory emblem one of the best options for early models.
JDM Note:
This "DATSUN" logo emblem was used on the hood of all 70-78 Z-Cars sold outside of Japan. All models sold in Japan used a "Z" emblem similar in appearance to the 280ZX emblem, but the size and shape of this "DATSUN" emblem. Nissan has also superceded the Fairlady Z emblem to the 280ZX part; however, the ZX version does not have the angle to match the hood needed for proper installation (it also does not have the clip posts used on early models). If you need a replacement emblem for your 70-78 Fairlady Z, we recommend either this "DATSUN" emblem or our Classic "Z" Emblem (31-1000 in Related Items).
