Description:
This is the genuine, original equipment (OEM) replacement for the larger of the two multi-groove belts found on early 350Z motors (DE Type Engines). It drives alternator and the power steering pump (and cooling fan on non-Z VQ35DE models equipped with mechanical cooling fan*), and is the forward of the 2 belts (closer to the radiator). If you see any cracking or fraying on your belt, you should replace it before it tears entirely.
*2006 Note:
This belt fits all models produced from 2003 to 2005 in stock configuration, as well as models produced up to August of 2006. Starting in 8/06, one of the idler pulleys was removed from the air conditioning belt, and a shorter belt was used instead. If you have one of these later models, or your Z has been modified to use the later belt, please contact us for options. Note that some VQ35DE engines used in non-Z applications do have a mechanical cooling fan; those engines will generally need this belt and not the later version.
Note:
In most cases, engine drive belts wear at either the same or similar rates. It is generally recommended to replace both belts at the same time if either is showing signs of wear. This Fan Belt will need to be removed in order to replace the Air Conditioning Belt (the Fan Belt blocks access to removal and installation of the A/C belt). Additionally, the bearing in the Idler Pulley is most likely starting to show signs of wear (some early 350Z models are already over 20 years old!). Make sure to inspect these pulleys while the belt is off; if you hear noise or feel resistance when rotating the idler by hand, it's time to replace it!
