Factory Sub Harness, Water (Cylinder Head) Temperature Sensor, 84-89 300ZX (Z31) GL

Description:
This genuine, original equipment (OEM) sub-harness connects the 2-wire type cylinder head temperature sensor located in the front of the driver's (left) side cylinder head to the main harness. The connectors on this harness are known to corrode, causing poor contact to the sensor. They also tend to become brittle with time, and, they are usually overlooked when the sensor is replaced. Due to the sensor's location behind the rear timing cover (the plate behind the camshaft sprockets), we recommend replacing this harness whenever the sensor is replaced, such as when it fails or during the longer interval timing belt change (120K, or every other belt).

Note:
While this sub-harness is also referred to as a Water Temperature Sensor Sub Harness, the sensor it connects to from the factory is not a wet type sensor and should not be submerged in Coolant (or mounted in a way that it will be submerged). The original style sensor in the Cylinder Head is a dry type; see 11-3451 in Related Items for more details.

Spring Clip Note:
This harness comes with a replacement spring clip installed on the sensor end of the harness. While you do not specifically need to have a replacement ready, it's not a bad idea to keep a few on hand for future removal as they tend to disappear on removal. If you've determined that your existing sub-harness is in excellent enough condition to continue using, we recommend ordering replacement clips in case the existing one flies off on removal. CHTS Conversion/Relocation Note:
If you are planning to convert/relocate your EFI temperature sensor, you will still use this same harness for the "wet" type Coolant Temperature Sensor. If you are interested in this conversion, keep an eye on the CHTS listing as we will be offering an appropriate sensor shortly.
