Description:
This genuine, original equipment (OEM) switch controls the opening and closing of the Cold Start Valve. It is the larger of the sensors in the lower Thermostat Housing that use the Bosch style 2-wire plug (note that the other sensor that uses this style plug sends a signal to the fuel computer, NOT this one). As with the other coolant senders and sensors, this switch commonly builds up corrosion over the years, preventing it from sending the correct signal to close the Cold Start Valve which creates a rich condition mostly noticeable when the engine is at operating temperature. While uncommon, it can fail in a way that causes the Cold Start Valve to stay closed, which can make starting a cold engine more difficult. Gasket included.
