Description:
This genuine, original equipment (OEM) 5-prong green relay is used in multiple locations on 280ZX models, including:
Make sure to physically inspect your specific car's components to confirm your individual car's needs prior to ordering. As noted below, some models currently have different relays installed for some circuits.
*Fuel Pump Relay #1 Location:
This relay is found behind the glove box, in line with the ignition and accessory relays. It is the closest to the firewall, and sits slightly higher than the other 2 relays. Removal of the glove box is required to replace this relay.
**EFI Relay Location & Note:
Also referred to as the EGI relay, this can be found on the passenger (right) side of the engine bay between the battery and the shock tower. A cover needs to be removed in order to access it. Note that some 280ZX models used the brown 6-prong relay (11-3474) instead of this relay. It seems to most commonly be the case with factory Turbo and Auto Trans. models, but is also inconsistent. The Factory Service Manuals (including Turbo supplement) and the Nissan microfiche appear to specify this 5-prong relay for all applications, and we have not yet located any supercession or service file data to confirm if it was a change after factory production or not. If your car has a green, 5-pin relay behind an access cover on the passenger (right) side of the engine bay between the battery and the shock tower, then this is the relay you need for your specific application.
Ignition & Accessory Relay Note:
Some models also used this relay for the ignition and accessory circuits instead of the usual 6-prong brown relay, although we have found 2 different 5-prong relays that were used (note this configuration is shown in the Factory Service Manuals, but color is not specified). Turbo and Auto Trans. models often times have 4-prong blue relays for these circuits instead of either the 5 or 6 prong relays. Like the EFI Relay, if your car currently has a green, 5-pin relay installed for either of these circuits, this is the relay you need. These relays can be found behind the glove box along with the Fuel Pump Relay #1 (noted above).
