Temporarily Unavailable: We hope to get an answer from the manufacturer soon on when these will be available, sorry for the delay.
Description:
These Powerforce performance dampers reduce the rotational mass of the multi-groove OE unit. They are degreed to +20, and feature easy-to-read timing marks (clear white against a painted black background). Powerforce dampers quality is equal to or most often exceeds that of any other harmonic damper. You won't find any damper that is more accurately balanced or more closely machined for the correct fit. Powerforce products come with a one year limited warranty, including dampers used in racing applications. Through subsequent research and development they have perfected a new process that utilizes a stronger adhesive along with an improved elastomer that creates a much stronger bond, effectively doubling the force required to separate the hub from the ring, making these dampers practically indestructible. They are legal for SCCA's ITS class as OA diameter remains unchanged. Total alignment difference between pulleys should not exceed 1/8". The manufacturer reported "safe" rev limit with this Damper is 6500 rpms. For a higher limit, see 10-2138 in Related Items.
Note:
We strongly recommend using a special bolt-washer kit from Related Items for standard use. For competition use, upgrading the crank bolt is required Please call if you have any questions or don't believe you need to use the bolt/washer.
Tolerance:
Keep in mind that these performance dampers are designed for an extremely tight fit to prevent snout wear on the crankshaft, which is vital on performance engines. They were designed on purpose to be extremely tight to the standard crankshaft tolerance (see "Installation" below for more information about variances in Nissan Crankshaft tolerances).
Installation:
Please note that machining tolerances are in the thousandths of inches. It is normal to have slight variances in the factory crankshaft mating surface diameter. While the vast majority of these dampers that we have sold fit as they are supposed to, a small percentage have been difficult to seat due to those variances. If that is the case with your installation, your machinist may have to do very light machining to loosen the fit slightly. This is normally a very simple procedure for your machinist/rebuilder. Be certain first that both mating surfaces are free of paint, scrapes, and burrs. Again, this has only occurred on a handful of the dampers we have sold, and in almost every case has been easily remedied by a mechanic.
Model Guide:
Datsun 240Z*, 260Z, 280Z, 280ZX
Model Restrictions:
For L-Series engines only. Not for use with smog pumps, power steering, or air conditioning.
Special Note:
For 240Z & 260Z, since they have non-adjustable timing pointers, the timing markings on this pulley will be shifted. You will need to match and note the relation of the pulley marks to your original pulley when you remove it. Alternatively, you can purchase and use a 280Z timing indicator in place of your original (see Related Items). Please call if you have questions.
