Rear Strut Mounting Insulator Adapter Kit, *9/74-78 260Z-280Z
You can choose a Z-Car from your garage, or from the selections above, to filter the store or check part fitment.
Includes:
Description:
Nissan discontinued Rear Strut Mount Insulators for 9/74-78 260Z & 280Z many years ago. The Front insulators were the same height from 70-78, and are still available, but they are nearly 3/4" shorter than the factory late 260Z & 280Z rear insulator. Advancements in manufacturing technology, combined with an over the top quality engineer looking to expand, has allowed us to bring this complete left and right rear adapter kit to life in a quality that will exceed your expectations. These adapters were engineered from the ground up based on data from a combination of both new and used, front and rear insulators, in order to determine the ideal size for the application.
Features:
These adapters, when fitted to the factory front strut mount insulator and installed in the rear of a 9/74-78 Z-Car, will raise the rear by about 18mm (about 0.7") compared to the front insulator alone, effectively replacing the original taller rear insulator (or restoring height for those who installed a shorter option previously). Sold as a pair, one quantity covers both rear sides. Includes 2 adapters and hardware to mount the adapter to the strut insulator. See Related Items for replacement mount insulators, hardware to replace your original mounting insulator nuts and washers if needed, and more.
Performance Strut Insulators:
There are some performance insulator options available, but those are also designed for the 240Z rear height, and leave late 260Z & 280Z rear ends lowered by about 3/4" more than the front, which is never a good option. These adapters will work with some of them; please call for more information.
Will this harshen my ride quality?
Strut insulators are not entirely made of rubber with studs molded into them. They have a metal core where the strut cartridge bolts on, and a metal shell on top (where the insulator is bolted to the inner fender). The rubber is between the two metal areas, causing the "insulation" between the vibrations & noise of the road, and the body of the car (i.e. you). These adapters simply extend the metal top of the insulator, therefore they will not increase road noise or vibration into the car.
*240Z Note:
Here is another possible use for these adapters: If on your 70-8/74 240Z/260Z, you have chosen to keep using your older stock springs, instead of performance springs, and those stock springs are sagging beyond 3/4 of an inch, these adapters could be used to increase the ride height by approximately 3/4" (18mm) if so desired.
Camber Plate Mount Note:
If you use these to correct the rear height on a late 260Z or 280Z that is utilizing one of our performance camber kits, the original tall nuts that come with the camber kits will need to be replaced with shorter nuts for clearance (not included). Also note that to adjust your camber, you would need to drop the strut away from the inner fender for access.

Please support the local independent engineers that bring so many great products to the Z Community. The Engineer who brought these great adapter kits to Z Enthusiasts everywhere is the same individual who has spent countless hours researching, developing, and even reproducing a wide range of custom Z parts and upgrades, such as the original 240Z 4-Piston Brake Caliper kits (and the proper 280Z kits, which are available now!).
This local engineer personally crafts the custom Reinforcement Brackets for this kit, right here in Southern California, with materials made in the USA. Nobody comes close to his design, quality, and accuracy. Support his contribution to the Z Community by buying the originals, so this great asset to all Z Enthusiasts can continue to create great new products for the Z-Car. Thank you.
