Description:
Complete your Fairlady Z look! Fender mirrors have been one of the most requested items for us over the years, and we are proud to finally offer a proper, high quality reproduction set. Z-Cars sold in Japan came with mirrors mounted to both front fenders that included a spring mechanism to allow the mirrors to move and return in place when pushed (such as when someone bumps into your mirror in a parking lot). Most mirror styles are not designed for fender use and don't have this crucial feature. When installed on fenders, solid mounted mirrors can lead to damaged fenders when bumped into if you're unlucky. Additionally, most fender mirrors we've seen over the years are not designed for the Z-Car, but for other models that have straighter fenders. The curve at the front of the fenders requires a taller mirror stem than many other cars in order to get proper visibility. These are the first fender mirrors we have seen that are specifically designed to mount on the Z-Car fender and are comparable quality to originals, since the original fender mirrors themselves! Sold in left and right pairs.

Image Note:
The first 3 images above show the actual reproduction mirrors. The last 4 images above show a set of factory original fender mirrors installed on a USDM model. As you can see, these mirrors are an excellent reproduction of the original!

Position Note:
Depending on where you look, you may find conflicting information on the exact position that these mirrors should be installed. According to our supplier, authentic Japanese replacement Fairlady Z fenders (fender replacements specifically for Japanese models) are drilled in the exact same location on both left and right sides, which would indicate the same mounting position on both sides. On the other hand, some older Japanese service manuals indicate that there is an offset to these mirrors, with the driver's side mirror sitting slightly farther forward and closer to the hood compared to the passenger side. We have decided to consolidate the mounting position measurements that we've found below, and provide them as a guide or starting point rather than an absolute mounting location. Ultimately, we feel that you should install these mirrors on your car where you like the look (and prefer the viewing angle from the driver's seat).

Installation Notes:
The outward (from fender) measurement should be made first, since where you measure back from on the headlight bucket will affect the end position of the mirror. Measurements from the inner edge of the fender are taken up to the inner edge of the mirror base, while measurements from the rear edge of the headlight bucket are taken up to the front of the mirror base. Two holes will need to be drilled on each fender once mirror position has been decided: (Note: The following hole size recommendations have been updated by the manufacturer, please call if you have any questions) one 19mm (closest SAE is 3/4") hole and one 5mm (closest SAE is 13/64") hole. The center to center of these two holes should be 25mm. Note that the measurements below are all to the mirror base, NOT to either mounting hole.

Even Mirror Position: LHD Offset Mirror Position:
  • Driver (Left): 5.91 in. (15 cm.) out from inner edge of fender; 7.67 in. (19.5 cm.) back from rear edge of headlight bucket
  • Passenger (Right): 6.69 in. (17 cm.) out from inner edge of fender; 9 in. (23 cm.) back from rear edge of headlight bucket
