Whether your Z-Car is a weekend event car or full on dedicated tracker, if you plan to race your Z or early ZX this firm ABS Plastic Coupler is for you. The original steering coupler was made from somewhat soft rubber and was designed to absorb vibration and harshness from the road, which tends to wear out over time and can cause loose or vague steering that feels sloppy and unresponsive. Upgrading to a rigid ABS coupler will instantly improve steering response beyond even a urethane replacement. Solid couplers will provide the fastest response available from your steering! Unlike metal versions though, this ABS Plastic coupler will actually reduce weight from the steering shaft, allowing for even quicker steering necessary for the track. For maximized control, use with new urethane steering rack and suspension bushings.
Note:
This is a high performance item, and may be too aggressive for some during normal street use. It is designed to maximize steering response by solidly connecting the 2 sections of the steering shaft. In exchange for the performance benefit, somewhat increased vibration and road noise will be transmitted through the steering wheel. See our urethane option (23-4160) in Related Items if you would prefer to maintain a degree of vibration and road noise dampening instead.

Model Restriction:
Fits all 70-78 models with original rack and pinion steering. For 280ZX, fits 79-81 models equipped with manual rack and pinion steering only. Will not fit on any 280ZX model equipped with power steering.
