Description:
These slim Air Horn (or Velocity Stack) Screens give you a great performance look, while offering more protection than metal-only racing screens. These 4 part screens have an interior steel mesh, followed by a carbon element, then a foam element, and finally an exterior Aluminum mesh. The Mil-spec, fire-retardant, two piece foam/Carbon elements, which you can see in the images, are the same materials that have been used as part of the intake system for some Apache helicopters. While, just like with metal-only screens, these are not for long trips or daily driving, their improved screening ability means they can be used for short weekend runs and other shorter duration trips. Maintenance is easy, simply clean them periodically with water, dry, and reinstall (do not oil). They fit most Air Horns for Weber 45 & 48 DCOE Carburetors (approximate bell width of 60-70mm, please call to clarify). Sold in pairs. Webers require 3 pairs (2 filters per carb).
Notes:
The foam/carbon elements in these screens are not to be oiled. Also, as with all "over-the-horn" Screen designs (just like air filters), these will restrict air flow somewhat. In addition, even though they are fire retardant, if your engine is prone to intake backfiring, the foam/carbon elements will be damaged and eventually destroyed by the backfiring (as will most materials!).
Fitment Notes:
These will not fit our 11-3014 S.U. Air Horns. According to the manufacturer, these can be used on 40 DCOE Carburetor Air Horns, but would require the use of silicone sealant to keep them in place.
