Description:
If you hear a clunking sound when you shift gears while driving your 72-78 Z, chances are the culprit is the differential insulator. Over time, the rubber in the insulator ages and wears, which eventually allows the two metal brackets of the insulator to contact each other, resulting in the well known clunking sound. Replacing the mount is the only way to fix the problem and prevent total failure of the mount; a potentially disastrous situation. Genuine, original equipment (OEM) mounts like this one are the best for most street driven applications.

*70-6/71 Owners:
In order to use this Differential Mount Insulator, you will need to use the later Mustache Bar and Rear Transverse Link Assembly (23-4599R and 23-4615R in Related items). The early straight Mustache Bar and Rear Transverse Link (23-4598R and 23-4614R) cannot be used with this mount insulator. The illustration below shows the specific components that will need to be changed (highlighted in red). NOTE: The refurbished items linked above are not currently available.
