Description:
Improve the performance of your old S.U. Carburetors! These completely remanufactured 70-72 240Z S.U. carburetors will bolt to any original carbureted Z-Car Intake Manifold. They are fully refurbished on genuine Datsun cores, including the outer appearance and linkage. The S.U. Carb bodies and aluminum components are completely stripped, cleaned, inspected, acid stripped. A unique polishing method is used to get a better than factory finish that is easier to clean and resist future staining. This unique method reaches areas of the carbs a polishing wheel can't. Steel components, such as the linkage, are acid stripped and plated with a factory colored zinc mixture to match (and outlast) the original appearance. All new original or custom made internals replace the worn out factory parts, including floats, choke nozzles, clamps, and needles to name a few. Additionally, the custom nozzles allow for smoother functioning and fix the "sticky choke" issue common in the original design. The original easily worn throttle shaft connection has been improved with custom double sealed bearings for a permanent fix to shaft wear. Once reassembled, these carbs are leagues better than the original S.U. carbs from Datsun! Sold in pairs on a like-exchange basis only (see Core Notes below).

Core Requirements:
These carburetors are only sold in pairs on a like for like exchange basis only. Complete 70-72 240Z "Round Top" S.U. carburetors with center linkage are the only acceptable cores for exchange. Partial sets cannot be rebuilt at this time. Cores must be complete 70-72 Datsun 240Z original carburetors only. Cores must include the pair of complete carburetors (no missing parts) and the matching center linkage (including springs), in rebuildable condition only. If you are obtaining a different set of cores than the set on your car, either locally or online, be sure to also get the linkage between the carburetors as well. This is especially important for 73-74 Z owners, as the 70-72 center linkage is different than the original 73-74 linkage. If you can't find a rebuildable set of 70-72 Carburetors to exchange please contact us for options prior to ordering. Note that non-240Z S.U. carburetors and original 73-74 Flat Top Hitachi units do not qualify for core credit (including other Datsun and all British carbs).

*S.U. Type Identification:
The easiest method of identification of these carburetors is the number of screws that hold down the large dome on top of the carburetor (the center of the dome holds the oil dipstick). 1970 & early 1971 240Z's used 4 screws to bolt the dome to the body of the carburetor. Late 1971 & 1972's used 3 screws to bolt the dome to the body of the carburetor. Use this information to choose "S.U. Type" above

**73-74 Notes:
The original equipment "Flat Top" Hitachi carburetors installed on 1973 and 1974 Z's were designed to meet emissions standards of the time, not performance or driveability. These later carbs frequently caused hard starting, flooding, vapor locking, and poor low-end power. Early S.U. carburetors are a good way to solve these problems. You will also need to purchase air cleaners to match the S.U. carbs. 73-74 air cleaners will not attach correctly to early carbs. Remember that your old carburetors (cores) that you return must be 70-72 S.U. Carburetors, complete with the center linkage, intact, and in rebuildable condition. ***75-83 Notes:
In addition to the 73-74 notes above, you will also need to source additional components to make these work in place of the factory fuel injection on your Z. You will need to source appropriate intake manifolds, balance tube, and throttle linkage (firewall forward) to fit these on your Z. Your original fuel injection pump also needs to be switched out for a lower pressure carburetion pump and fuel filter (and may require an adjustable fuel pressure regulator). Early intake manifolds use different mounting hardware at the cylinder head as well. New fuel hoses will need to be run as well. Please contact us prior to ordering with any questions.
