Description:
A damaged or aged center console can take a lot away from your interior. We were able to get the 70-71 version reproduced in fiberglass some time ago, but the later consoles were more intricately designed and couldn't be reproduced in the same way. This late 240Z console is one of the most requested replacement parts we've ever had. We're now happy to offer this reproduction of the factory replacement console, for both Manual and Automatic transmission** models! This console is designed to fit just like the original, using the same factory hardware and mounting points: simply transfer your existing components from your old console and it's ready to go. The surface texture is the best match to the original grain we've found (be sure to compare the look of the grain to other options you might see online), and also includes a "Z" Logo Cover Plate*** built in. Going beyond the factory design, this version was reproduced using durable ABS plastic with UV protection so that it will last for many years to come.
*Application Note:
Models produced in late 1970 and early 1971 came with one of 2 types of center consoles. Nissan was not consistent during this period of Z-Car production, and cars produced even in the same week often times came in different configurations. This console fits 240Z models where the Ash Tray is positioned behind the shift boot (towards the rear of the vehicle). If your Z has the ash tray positioned in front of the shift boot (and covering the fuse box), see 40-2401 in Related Items.
**Auto Trans. Note:
Just like the factory replacements, this console can be modified to fit automatic transmission models. It requires some minor trimming at the rear of the shifter opening and reuse of the original Auto Trans Shift Plate brackets, which are not currently available. Note that these modifications are the same specified by Nissan in the service file noted on the Factory Console pages.
***Console Cover Plate Note:
Some models sold outside of the U.S. came with either fog or parking lights. In some areas, the switch for these lights was mounted in the Center Console, between the shift boot and the ash tray. Factory Consoles were made with a hole for the switch in this position; models that did not come with the lights had a "Z" Logo Cover Plate permanently installed instead. Unlike the original, the cover plate on this reproduction console is not a separate piece, and cannot be removed for the factory switch. Custom modification will be required if these lights will be retained.
